FAQs
Do your lights intermittently flicker, either while they are on, or when you are running certain appliances? This can be due to a wiring issue or a problem with your power supply. Call the experts at Mr. Air AC & Electrical to have us inspect the issue.
When your wiring starts to malfunction, it can be difficult to determine when it needs to be repaired, and when it should be replaced. Some signs that can indicate you need to install new wiring are:
- You have bad wiring connections.
- You notice the lights dimming or brightening periodically.
- You notice the lights flickering.
- You notice the odor of burning plastic.
- You see sparks, flames, or smoke.
- You notice the wires start to overheat.
- You notice scorching around or behind the faceplate.
Before calling for emergency HVAC services, there are certain tasks you can perform on your own:
- Check your thermostat to make sure it is on.
- If your furnace is malfunctioning, check to see if the light at the front of the furnace is green. If it is, continue to troubleshoot. If it’s red, then you need to call for repairs.
- Check to see if a circuit breaker was tripped.
- Inspect the filter and see if it needs to be changed.
- Make sure the furnace door is closed.
- Ensure the vents are free of leaves and other debris.
- If your air conditioner is acting up, check the condenser to see if it’s running.
Have you seen Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) on AC units and wondered what they mean? This is the ratio of cooling output of an AC over a typical cooling season, divided by the energy it uses in Watt-Hours. The minimum SEER for air conditioners is 13, but most modern units range from 13 to 21. The efficiency of your system can vary based on the size of your home, your ductwork, and other issues. If you have questions about a SEER rating on a certain unit, ask our technicians at Mr. Air AC & Electrical.
Are you curious if a ductless mini-split AC system will efficiently cool your house? This system could be a good solution for your home if:
- Your home doesn’t have a central HVAC system or ductwork installed.
- You want to heat or cool an area that’s not connected to your central system, like the garage.
- You want to install a system that doesn’t use ductwork.
- You want to control the temperature in specific areas of your home.
- You live in an area that doesn’t experience extreme hot or cold temperatures.
Is your air conditioner running, but your house isn’t cooling to the ideal temperature? This can signal a variety of issues, including that you need to recharge your refrigerant. Schedule an appointment with our AC experts to investigate the cause and fix it.
To protect your home or building, you should install motion sensor lights at all entrances to the property. This can include near all doors and windows and by the garage. Installing sensors in these locations can help deter intruders, and also provide light in convenient areas to help prevent slips and falls.
